Zenless Zone Zero's Version 3.2, "Their Secret Histories," lands on September 9 and does something the game hasn't done before: it adds a brand-new Agent Specialty. The Armorer role debuts alongside two S-Rank agents from the Flint Workshop, Claret and Roxy, giving New Eridu's combat sandbox its first genuinely new archetype since launch.
That's the real story here. New agents arrive every patch — a new class of agent does not.
The Armorer changes how combat works
The Armorer Specialty is built to sit between offense and defense rather than picking a lane. It introduces two new combat mechanics, Maim and multi-CRIT, and gives Armorer agents access to Counter Assist — a tool that lets them counter enemy Control Skills and shove foes back.
For a game whose combat runs on swap-canceling, parries, and Chain Attacks, a specialty that rewards standing your ground and punishing enemy pressure is a meaningful new wrinkle. It's the kind of addition that reshapes team-building rather than just adding another damage dealer to the pile.
Claret and Roxy lead the Flint Workshop
The two new agents both hail from the Flint Workshop and split across the update's two halves.
Claret, the head of the workshop, is an S-Rank Electric agent and the first character to use the new Armorer specialty. She headlines Phase 1, running from September 9 to September 30, on her Bloodmoon Rising banner. Sharing that first phase is a rerun for Nangong Yu, getting her first repeat run on the Axiom of Captivation banner.
Roxy, Claret's assistant and the workshop's chief smith, is an S-Rank Wind Stun agent designed to open longer, stronger burst windows for the team. She arrives in Phase 2, from September 30 to October 20, on the Cindernight Respite banner, with Promeia running her first rerun alongside.
Story, events, and a free outfit
The main story pushes into Vyrium, a zone within the Shrouded Reef, where the Proxies chase further treatment for the mutated power affecting their body. That investigation tangles with a missing shipment of Porcelloy from the Flint Workshop and signs that TOPS has infiltrated Roscaelifer.
On the activity side, 3.2 stacks the usual mix of side content:
- Diary of an Orbie Parent — a virtual-pet event
- Chronicles of the Hobbling Crow — a Booastrum detective event
- Shadow Chase Showdown — an HIA combat event
- Surprise Screening Plan — a 14-day login check-in handing out Polychromes and a free Angels of Delusion outfit of your choice
What it means for players
Version 3.2 is a bigger structural moment than the average ZZZ patch. New agents come and go, but the Armorer specialty — with Maim, multi-CRIT, and Counter Assist — expands the actual vocabulary of the combat system, and Claret is the first character to speak it. If you've been waiting for a reason to build a new team, this is a stronger one than a typical banner cycle.
Windows players get it the same day as everyone else via Steam and the standalone launcher, with the update also live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Xbox Cloud Gaming, iOS, and Android. As always, expect the finer balance details to shake out in the days after launch.
