Goddess of Victory: Nikke has kicked off one of its busiest stretches of the year. The September 3 update launches the Great Villain Union event with an alternate version of Drake, sets up a mid-month Bunny Girl event, and builds toward the game's 3.5th Anniversary — while quietly forcing every player through a one-time technical hurdle first.
For a live-service game that leans hard on event pacing, this is the kind of month that rewards logging in early and often.
Great Villain Union kicks off September
The month opens with Great Villain Union, running from the September 3 maintenance through September 17. Headlining it is an alternate version of Drake, with a pick-up banner expected to run alongside the event.
Alt versions of established, popular units are among Nikke's most reliable draws — they give returning players a fresh reason to spend and a new spin on a squad member they already know. Slotting a Drake alt into the first event of the month is a clear statement of intent for September.
A Bunny Girl event and the 3.5th Anniversary build-up
Mid-September brings a new Bunny Girl event, Coin Rush Showdown, featuring a Nikke first introduced before 2025 returning with a brand-new look. It's the familiar Nikke playbook — a reworked design on a known character, wrapped in a limited-time mode — and exactly the sort of fan-service beat the community turns out for.
Also arriving mid-month: the 3.5th Anniversary story event, Star Anis, added to the Event Archives as a prelude to the Third Surface Reclamation War. Anniversary windows are historically when Shift Up swings biggest, and positioning Star Anis as a lead-in signals that the larger anniversary payload is meant to carry the story forward, not just hand out rewards.
A new patch system means a big re-download
The catch: the September 3 update ships a new patch system, and it isn't optional. Players have to re-download all game patch data to continue, with at least 17GB of free space required — and around 22GB for new players.
It's a one-time cost, but a real one. If you're playing on Windows, make sure you've cleared the space before maintenance ends, or you'll be stuck watching a download bar while the events are already live.
What's new at a glance
- Great Villain Union event, September 3 to September 17, with an alternate Drake pick-up banner
- Coin Rush Showdown Bunny Girl event mid-month, reviving a pre-2025 Nikke with a new look
- Star Anis 3.5th Anniversary story event added to the Event Archives as a prelude to the Third Surface Reclamation War
- New patch system requiring a full re-download — ~17GB free (22GB for new players)
What it means for players
September is front-loaded and dense: a marquee alt banner, a fan-favorite Bunny Girl revival, and an anniversary story beat all inside a few weeks. The Drake alt is the immediate pull, but the 3.5th Anniversary build-up is the thread to watch — Nikke's anniversaries tend to define its year. Just get the re-download out of the way first so you don't lose event time to a progress bar. We'll follow the anniversary reveals as Shift Up rolls them out.
